D. M. Zimmerman
At our school for over 27 years the Museum of history of cosmonautics. Its founder is considered to be a teacher of mathematics and physics school №5 Dmitry M. Zimmerman. The idea of creating such Museum in chigri Dmitry Mikhailovich told his former student Konstantin Sudienko (his “space” last name – Wind), which in the 60-70s, he was the leading engineer – investigator of the Center for cosmonaut training “Star city”. Here’s what little we knew about the history of our Museum. Unfair to know a lot about space, the astronauts not know the history of the creation of their own Museum. Therefore, at the meeting of the Board of the Museum in September 2010 we decided to establish the chronology of the creation of our Museum space.
From the stories of Mikhail Zaitsev V. Ionova and Larisa Pavlovna, the former leaders of the Museum, we learned that, when at the invitation of Constantine Ivanovichue, Dmitry M. Zimmerman first came to star city, what he saw fascinated him. It seemed to him that in the Star all imbued with a special atmosphere – the atmosphere of the conquest of space: the monument to Yuri Gagarin and cosmonauts Alley, houses and streets. There were many interesting meetings, discussions and reflections. How to tell not only his disciples, but to all syrovtsa? The idea was inspired by Konstantin Ivanovich: “Why not create a school Museum of history of cosmonautics? Some exhibits can give I will help my comrades, and there, I think, at desire, perseverance, initiative, it will go”.
This was the starting point. In 1974, in railway school No. 44 (now MOU “SOSH №5 Shchigry Kursk region”) at first took in one of the classes a small area. Dmitry Mikhailovich had launched a correspondence with astronauts, scientists, journalists, institutions. Strengthened ties with the Star, pulled the strings in many cities of the Soviet Union, Baikonur, museums and archives. Came parcels, small parcels, held numerous meetings with scientists, writers, journalists.
On the scale of the work tells such fact: 5734 sent emails, received replies 2066. Especially close relationship established with journalists James Kirillovich Golovanov, Vladimir Stepanovich Gubarev, albert A. Pushkareva.
For 10 years, work proceeded to the Cathedral of materials, because in that time many things were classified. A large portion of the most valuable and interesting exhibits were donated to the Museum by Konstantin Ivanovich by the Wind.
We found personal correspondence K. I. Wind with D. M. Zimmerman the period from September 1974. to December 1993. We learned not only the chronology of the receipt of the exhibits, but also the fact that their preparation and delivery have been associated with many difficulties. In one of the first letters of Konstantin Ivanovich asked not to operirovat his direct involvement in the organization of the Museum: “There should not (in any form) to highlight my modest figure… never mention my name.” Most of his letters begins with an apology: “was the journey”, “only from a long trip”, “since January disappeared for a long time”, “fly 75 days”, “if the long silent – never mind” and so on.
